Unlimited Love

What would happen if thousands of people were to spend time concentrating on a single, great, emotional, positive quality all at once or over a long period of time? Those that have undergone near-death experiences maintain that learning to love more is the reason we're here, our reason to be and our evolutionary path.  Love, then, is the long, and oft, sought meaning of life.

Does learning more and more love have a limit? Not a measurable one.

How can we learn more love?  There are, at least three possibilities.  These are increasing the intensity and duration of the feeling as well as including more unwitting subjects.

Increasing intensity seems straightforward enough.  We just take someone, something, some experience we have a spark of affection for, double it, and express, and impress, that feeling for a while.  Then multiply it by a factor of ten and hold that thought, then by a hundred, then a thousand, then ten thousand.

Increasing the duration would be a matter of increasing how long the previous feeling can be sustained.  Can this ultra intense love be sustained for a minute?  Two minutes? Fifteen? An hour? A day? More? What would clinical experimentation disclose?

They say that the best way to increase the targets of your affection is to love yourself completely.  Apparently you can’t give something you don’t have.

One methodology for expanding the subjects of love is to go from person to person, thing to thing, experience to experience and simply aim your love there for a while.  The least desirable person’s face can often be transformed by looking for the face they had as a child.  What happened to them along the way?  Compassion can be an eye, and heart, opener.

Everyone has loved, at least, one or two people simultaneously, yet each in their own unique and wonderful way.  We know that we can love more than one person at the same time and it’s no secret that loving people feels really good yet, while there’s no evidence of a limit to the number of people we can love simultaneously, how many have taken the time to experiment with this concept?

How many have tried genuinely loving everyone within a room, for example, or everyone in the city or town, the overall region, the state or province, the country, the continent, and on the entire planet.  How many have conceived of loving all things every where throughout all time?

Find a spark of love in your heart for all things, every where, throughout all time, in every dimension and hold that thought for a while.  Amplify it, say, ten times and sustain that for a while.  Then amplify that feeling a hundred times and hold it… then a thousand times and then ten thousand.  Make it the strength of an atomic bomb going off and hold that for as long as you can… then ten thousand atomic bombs going off.  Imagine all the love that was ever felt, or ever will be felt, by everyone everywhere, and every living thing everywhere, throughout all time and hold that thought.  Now amplify that by ten billion suns exploding.  How does that feel?  How long can you sustain it?  Is this as close as we can come to loving as God loves?

A mind, once expanded to  accept a new thought or idea, never regains its original shape.
