Tobaccoana

According to the TV program The 21st Century Roadshow tobaccoana, due to a declining number of smokers, is a burgeoning, relatively inexpensive, area of collecting. Here are some items that are guaranteed to increase in value over time:

El Rey del Mundo Antique Cuban Cigar Box

    El Rey del Mundo translates to King of the World in Spanish and is a premium cigar brand produced on the island of Cuba, since 1848,  for Habanos SA, the Cuban state-owned tobacco company since 1848.

    This is an original colourful antique Cuban cigar box, bearing 4 different seals (cut not torn) one of which bears the date July 16th, 1912.  At the time this was purchased it was the most expensive and prestigious cigar brand in the world.

    The box is all wood and mostly covered with paper. Ironic because many modern boxes are all paper and made to resemble the old wood. 

    In accordance with its age there's some staining both inside and out with some mildew staining on the inside lid and the back.  Otherwise it's in good condition. It would be a premier item for any cigar box collection.

        This isn't your average tire company ashtrays.  It's rare and sought after.

        The Dominion Rubber Company established in 1854, thirteen years before Canada's confederation and the tire division started up in 1913 as the Dominion Royal Tire Company.  Check the Internet and you'll find that their artifacts are sought-after collectibles including any tires (any size, any condition, any quantity), ads or other ephemera, signs, display stands, patch kits, you name it.

        This is their automotive brand Master, Air Ride tire and is valued here at $50. It measures 5.75 inches in diameter and features the words:

Vintage Blue Mountain Pottery Table Lighter Since Blue Mountain Pottery burned down their pieces have become quite collectible. This rare table lighter measures 3.5 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at it's widest point. The butane lighter insert is untested and bears signs of minor corrosion around the insert. The green-black Blue Mountain Pottery vessel is in perfect condition.

Unusual Seal Ashtray Match Holder Combo

This streamlined, vintage, black, china seal is an unusual combination of ashtray and, what looks much like, a wine glass. It’s in MINT condition and the gilded trim is unblemished and like new. A combination of ashtray and wine glass is improbable, however, because if you were to drink from the glass while using the ashtray, the ashes would end up your lap. More likely it was intended for cigarettes for guests, wooden matches, or, perhaps, toothpicks. With wooden matches this would be the perfect kitschy item for a cigar smoker with style.
